How can your school make a better world? I have one idea!

Today, Swedish students have made a very good thing for the world.

Coordinated by the Swedish central student association, 80 000 students got from their schools to raise money for a good cause. Most of the students worked for one day in a local company, and the salary of the work went to a development project in Albania.

I just love this idea, the student got a chance to present themselves for companies, the companies got a helping hand for one day and the project in Albania gets around 600 000 dollars. It’s also a very good chance to show the world to the students and maybe get them more active in the fight for the world.

This is education, development and networking at the same time as they do something for the world.

I want this idea to spread, I know that Germany are working with it as well, and now I really want it to be an annually event in every country where it’s possible. I have a lot of ideas how we can make this work.

If you are interested to take this to your country, please contact me so we can start our work.

Development and the next generation

The young people of the earth are going to have a great responsibility for the future. From the world wars until today the world have been relatively safe and developing. But many indicators tells us that this in going to change.

A number of challenges with the climate change in top, the generation that will become decision makers in 20 years will have a massive struggle. We can be the generation that saved the planet, or if we follow the footsteps of the previous generations, the one who destroyed it. I believe that we are the one who have to make that decision.

Today, 20 percent of the world’s population (1,3 billion) is between 12 and 24 years old, the largest ever youth group in history. If they become aware and active in the struggle for equality and sustabibility, this generation can not continue as before, and we must do something.

What can the global north do?
• We must change the ideas from a shopping culture to a sustaible culture. We need to get role models and examples out to get people interested.
• We must change the system in order to see the real values and challenges. The economy today are built on non sustanible word, we got to do something about that.

What can the global south do?
• Make sure to develop sustaible, when the family get´s their first car, make sure it runs on green fuel, build a good network of public transports.
• Invest in the young peoples education, health and a basic welfare.

The challenge is also to build partnership and cooperations without boarders. We need to give the young people a chance to develop and be the change.

Anybody got some idea about how we can make the next generation the sustabible one?
